Learn the traditional Japanese method of mending ceramics with urushi lacquer and gold powder—where breakage becomes beauty
Kintsugi Workshop
ZIYO’s kintsugi lessons offer a hands-on introduction to the traditional Japanese method of repairing broken ceramics using natural urushi lacquer and metal powders (gold, silver, or brass). This is not a quick craft or imitation, but a quiet, meditative practice rooted in patience, imperfection, and care.
In kintsugi, breakage is not hidden—it is honoured. Every repair becomes part of the object’s story.
Through this course, you will learn:
How to prepare and handle traditional kintsugi materials
The step-by-step method of mending broken ceramics using urushi lacquer and metal powder
The rhythm and mindset of slow repair, rooted in the aesthetics of wabi-sabi and mushin (無心, “no-mind”)
This course is ideal for those who wish to experience kintsugi as both a physical and philosophical process—where healing, craft, and presence meet.
