enrich Your experience

Our aim is to introduce Asian aesthetics and spirits through our culture rich services and workshops

“Life is a continuous chain of experiences. These experiences are both good and bad but both help us live a more educated and productive life.”

JEFF HABY

ZIYO is an organisation and event space that provides traditional oriental activities and workshops, which includes traditional Chinese tea culture, Guqin music lessons, flower arranging and kintsugi repair.

Services:

Tea is our passion and so is guqin music. The Guqin is strongly associated with Tea culture and provides a meditative soundtrack to tea ceremonies. We offer one-to-one lessons for this ancient Chinese zither instrument.

In 2003 Guqin music was proclaimed to be one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, which gives it official recognition of its importance and its contribution to Chinese culture.

You can book a free lesson with ZIYO to experience one of the oldest musical instruments still played today and where we hope you will experience its musical meditative powers.

We treasure sentimental value and believe everything has its meaning of existence in its unique way. But sometimes an accident is unavoidable. ZIYO provides the traditional kintsugi repair service. Please contact us requesting a general quote before processing the repair.

We offer the following workshops:

We conduct traditional Chinese/Taiwanese tea ceremonies for small groups. Participants are introduced to some of the traditions and rituals, equipment, and the preparation of Chinese tea. Participants will learn how to set up a formal tea ceremony and how to correctly brew Oolong tea. We will introduce participants to three types of Oolong tea, each require their own type of teapot which allows for the best brewing results to be achieved.

The Oolong teas we provide are from ZIYO’s founder’s family tea plantation which is located on the Shan Lin Xi 杉林溪, mountain located in the middle of Taiwan, some 1,700 meters above sea level. This region is a protected area, so the amount of land allowed for tea cultivation is extremely limited, thus the teas from this region are scarce and highly valued by traditional tea drinkers. The tea from this area is renowned for its purity and excellent quality. Please contact for more details.

You can book a visit through our booking form below.

Flower arrangements are an integral part of traditional Chinese tea culture. Our flower arranging workshop will teach you about flower arrangements and decorations for tea ceremonies. The workshop will show you how to do two flower arrangements, and at the end of the workshop we will use these arrangements to embellish the tea ceremony that will conducted at the end of the workshop.

Learning kintsugi repair from the beginning.

ZIYO’s Kintsugi workshop is based on the traditional repairing method which mending the breakage with natural lacquer, further highlight the cracks with powdered gold, silver, or platinum.

Natural lacquer not only is durable materiel but also food safe, which mean the repaired object is reusable.

“Taking classes and gaining practical experience at the same time is truly a blessing. It is like doing two things at the same time.”
