Kintsugi Repair Service
At ZIYO, we offer a traditional kintsugi repair service for those who wish to restore broken ceramics using authentic materials and time-honoured techniques.
Each piece is repaired using natural urushi lacquer and finished with your choice of gold, silver, or brass powder. This is not a cosmetic fix—it is a respectful process that embraces breakage as part of an object’s history and character.
Whether your piece holds sentimental, aesthetic, or spiritual value, we treat each repair as a quiet act of care.
How It Works
1.Initial Inquiry
Email us with clear photos of your broken piece(s), showing all visible damage.
2.Assessment & Quote
We’ll let you know if your piece is suitable for kintsugi and provide a quote and timeframe.
3.Repair Process
Once confirmed, we’ll begin the multi-stage repair using traditional methods. Depending on the damage and style, this can take several weeks.
4.Completion
We will notify you when your piece is ready for collection or delivery.
Types of Kintsugi Techniques
Crack Repair (ひび): Filling cracks with lacquer and highlighting them with metal powder.
Piece Method (欠けの金継ぎ): Filling missing chips without inserting new ceramic.
Joint Call (呼び継ぎ): Fitting a non-matching ceramic piece to replace a missing section, creating a visible patchwork effect.
Additional Info
Our studio is located in Southwest London, UK. You can either drop off or post your piece to us.
Each repair is unique—turnaround time varies depending on the damage and drying stages.
We document each step of the repair, so you have a visual record of the process.
